The Burnt Opal Award
In Honor of Jim Miller
Early in his career, Jim Miller learned a costly lesson when he accidentally burnt a customer's opal. He vowed to always support less experienced jewelers when he could. In that spirit, his family is proud to offer three students or emerging metalsmiths free conference registration and a $200 travel and accommodations stipend.
You qualify as an Emerging Metalsmith if you:
Completed a degree, certificate, or non-certificate program at a college, university, technical college, community college, or non-traditional school within the last 3 years, OR
Are currently enrolled (2+ classes) in any such program, whether degree, certificate, or non-certificate granting, OR
Have fewer than 3 years of professional experience as a metalsmith
Support the CoMA Aspiring Metalsmith Scholarship Fund
In keeping with CoMA's mission, we encourage the professional, educational, and artistic growth of all metalsmiths! One way that we do that is by offering scholarships to Aspiring Metalsmiths for the Annual Conference.
This is only possible with the continued support of donations from members like YOU!
