Our Mission: forging connections through metal arts
CoMA aims to build and foster a community of like-minded makers in the pursuit of the metal arts. Our membership includes jewelers, sculptors, blacksmiths, knifemakers and other professionals and hobbyists, all interested in supporting the exchange of creative and technical knowledge about the art of metalsmithing. We believe that a strong artist community is essential to the development and growth of the metal arts in Colorado. CoMA was established in 1994, and since our founding, the membership has expanded beyond Colorado throughout the US.
CoMA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are run by a dedicated volunteer board and committee members who aim to involve members in creative and social dialogue about the craft of metalsmithing.
What We Do
Annual Conference
Our annual conference, held in Colorado during a weekend in July, allows members to network, share ideas, and learn from industry leaders in the metal arts.
Exhibitions
CoMA often has opportunities to sponsor juried gallery shows which we share with members. We also invite members to participate in our all-member shows including the one during our annual conference.
Community
Our membership includes a wide variety of professionals, educators, students and hobbyists. We believe that connecting with other metalsmiths helps all of us achieve our creative and professional goals.
Education
Throughout the year CoMA presents various learning activities: Demo Days and Network & Learn events. These are a great opportunity to learn from and meet other members.
Development
We offer scholarships to students to attend our annual conference. We speak regularly in classrooms and school events and we work with other guilds to promote and maintain interest in the metal arts.
